Shed base preparation with crushed stone

(1) Decide where best to place your shed on your property.

(2) Mark a space larger than the base of the shed. For example, a 10 X 10 shed should have a 14 X 14 base or foundation. Drive a pile of wood or metal into the ground, marking the four corners.

(3) Attach a line of rope connecting each stack to create a box or rectangle guide for the stone base.

(4) Ask an excavation company to make your preparation either 0 ¾ gravel or concrete. If your soil is clay or strong earth that moves a lot during freezing and thawing, then a piling company will be ideal for you. If this is you, make sure your preparation is perfectly well done and also laser level.

(5) The base of the stone must have a minimum thickness / height of 4 to 6 ʺ above the ground in order to prevent the formation of moisture.
